In today’s episode, we’re are going to talk about how when strive to become a better person, everything around us becomes better, too. I got this quote from the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. This is an amazing book about the journey of one boy who was striving to become a better person. It’s an amazing book and it seems to be a favorite of a lot of my friends.
The book it about a shepherd named Santiago who goes through these trials and tribulations to become a better person and reach his destiny. I’ve had some trials and tribulations throughout my life as I’m pursuing to become a better person and reach my goals. I won’t ruin the book for anyone but the idea is that we need to strive to become better people.
When you strive to become a better person, it’s like you’re putting the oxygen mask on yourself. If you don’t have oxygen, you won’t be able to take care of the people around you, they will have to take care of you. And if we have too many people that need to be taken care of, then we won’t be able to have the energy to focus on creating solutions for the problems that we have in society.
If someone needs help though, you should help them out by pulling them back up but don’t carry for too long because it will just take all of your energy. I feel like I’m a better person that is creating a better environment around me because I’m striving to become a better person every day. Since I’m stronger and physically active, I can play with my nieces and help them stay active.
Since I’m stronger mentally, I’m able to think of creative solutions for my friends and clients. Recently I just did a cash flow projection for a client where we went over various solutions for them on how they should purchase their next home. Now they are more prepared to make a better financial decision.
Since I’m stronger emotionally, I’m better are resolving conflict and not letting my ego hold me back. This allows me to have closer relationships and have less toxic people in my life.
Since I’m stronger spiritually, I’m doing exactly what I want to do in life and nothing feels better than working on your life’s purpose.
I feel like I’m an A player because I put a lot of effort into my self-development and I have the self-awareness to not let my ego sabotage the success of the group. And you have to realize that A players are 32 times more valuable than B and C players. If everyone was an A player, then imagine how much more productive the world would be. The entire world would become better around us.
To help make a change, you have to set the example and don’t be a hypocrite. There will be days where things are not going your way and you might take it easy. If you need to rest, then rest, but don’t rest for longer than you have to. It’s a grind to be an A player. You constantly have to work on yourself to become a better persona and it is so easy to be a C player. Just give enough effort that you’re maintaining but pushing yourself to grow as a person.
Do this for too long and it will come to harm you in the future. The world is constantly changing and requires us to upgrade our skills. If we don’t upgrade ourselves, then what happens is that we have to rely on other people to help us out and they might not be there for us when we need it. I can help someone out with a five-minute favor or occasionally with a day-long favor, but I have my own stuff to focus on and there are not enough hours in the day to spread out my energy that thin.
I don’t think our current education system is set up for this new economy and they don’t focus on self-care. They don’t teach kids and adults for that matter, how to take care of their mental health, their physical health, emotional health, and spiritual health and how they are all connected. Since they can’t do it, then we must do it ourselves. Who else is going to save us? It’s all about taking control of the situation. Just assume that every problem that you have, is your problem. Once you do this, then you start taking matters into your own hand.
Not happy with your life, then the path with the most success, is to start striving to become a better person. If you want more out of life, then you have to be more as a person. The choice is ours on what path we take but one is definitely going to make everything around us better. When you try something new like starting a new business, go after that new career, try something creative, or anything that is new, you will most likely suck at it, but you just have to strive to get better. It might take ten years, but if that is what it takes, then that is what it takes.
On my way to striving to become better, I feel very satisfied. If I was to get hit by a bus tomorrow, then at least I knew I did my best with the time that was allotted to me. I have a book and I have all of these podcasts that can live on and I have the people that I’ve impacted with my work. My goal is just to be the best version of myself and leave this world a little bit better than how I entered it. If we all did this, imagine how much better the world would be.
That’s it for today’s episode, to summarize it when we strive to become better, everything around us becomes better, too. This is going to be a choice made by us, and the sooner you realize that you have to make this choice yourself, then faster you can work towards creating a better environment for yourself. We only have a finite amount of time on this planet, so why not see how much we can grow as a person? You might be surprised with your results as well.
